5. Spend a little extra money on your Christmas tree stand. Often the cause of trees falling over and causing fires is that people cut corners and were stingy on their xmas tree stands. Be sure to get a high quality stand that will allow your Christmas tree to stand firmly and not fall over if bumped into by somebody or your pet.
